Savannah

I had an opportunity to shoot this beautiful girl several times. I know I have been bad about keeping the blog full but, I have been extremely busy the past few months. The first time I shot pictures of Savannah was with a group called LCA- Lights, Camera, Action. This group meets several times a year and  shoots for a theme. The theme in June was Homecoming/Prom night. We had several girls in their beautiful dresses for a photo shoot. We had a great time, made some great photos and made some great friends. Savannah is the daughter of a friend and she is a natural. After the LCA meeting, Savannah's mom asked me to do some Senior shots so we headed to Atlanta. Then I had this great idea to take Savannah to a lake with a long dress. The plan was to have her in the lake with this long dress. We took several shots around the lake--waiting for the sunset. Surprisingly there were a few people in the lake swimming. Once we put Savannah in the water they all decided to move behind her and we could not get shots of her in the water without the swimmers.

Introducing Parker

Though Parker is too old for "newborn" shots, he did a great job. Typically newborn shoots are planned for the first 2 weeks after birth. Parker is one month old but he did a fantastic job. He cooperated better than some new babies. Even though he was awake he seldom cried and he did not pee or poop on anyone or anything. So happy to have the opportunity to shoot this special little guy.

Standing on the Corner

This year I decide to focus on a couple different projects. This is the first of one of the projects. Throughout the year I will concentrate on these two projects so I can improve my photography. I know it is always more difficult to come up with ideas and composition when working in an unrelated field, and this can only increase and/or enhance my skills. While you will notice these are not clear focus, it was my intention. I wanted to do these at night without lights/flash and in motion. I am pretty pleased with the outcome and look forward to my next outing on this project.

Another Night of Headshots

A group of photographer friends got together to do the unthinkable. Take pictures of each other. Most photographers do not want to be in front of the camera. Being behind the camera is what we know and what we prefer. But, like most people in business, we needed a headshot. Whether it be for our website, facebook page, we needed it. So it only seemed fitting that we should start the new year with a new photo and a chance to hang out with friends with common interests and goals but most of all, taking pictures.

Head Shots!

I had the opportunity to take some head shots this week. I was pretty happy with them but, why wouldn't I be. I had a beautiful model. Working with Sara was a joy. She was relaxed in front of the camera, had a beautiful smile and she eagerly cooperated with my demands. Ha ha. Doing head shots is just a little different than all my other photos but definitely a fun thing to do.

Family Time is Fun Time

Take a family to a local park and all kinds of fun will break loose. When the family is having fun that is the time to bring out the camera. It's not about the poses and practiced expressions, it is about the fun and spontaneity that makes good picture making.

Where Eagles Fly

After my grandson's 5th birthday we stopped at Conowingo Dam to see the eagles. The kids had such a good time. The dam is a beautiful sight but those eagles. Unfortunately I did not have a long enough lens to capture these beautiful birds, but I got some of the kids!!

The cold weather did not keep the kids from wanting to play outside.

Homecoming!

Teens are so much fun!! I love homecoming but one thing I have learned is parents need to go. I know they do not want to hear that but, the kids are more comfortable when their parents are not around. Luckily for me I have photographed two of the girls prior to this wonderful event. Moms an dads want to be a part of this great day but that puts the teens on guard. It's not a bad thing but the pictures would be much better if the kids were more relaxed. This shoot was sooo much fun.

First Birthday

My granddaughter turned one this past week. We celebrated with a photo-shoot. She was amazing. There was also a birthday party with a smash cake and later a family photo-shoot. More pix will be coming soon.

Little Boys!

I have always struggle with ideas for little boys. It seems there are so many "props" for girls and so few for boys. And for some reason, I seem to be asked to do pictures for more girls than boys. This little guy was just past the 2 week period when it is best to take newborn photos. Who would think a few extra days would make a difference? Well it definitely does. At close to 3 weeks a baby is more alert and stays awake for longer periods. This little guy fussed for the first hour. I might have given up had it not been for a friend of mine. In the end I was very pleased with the finished product but it took lots of patience while we fed and rocked him.

Giuliana was only 4 days old at this photoshoot. She performed like a pro for a first modeling gig.

Pets That Behave

I don't know if I am getting better or if I just have an awesome pet. Well, I do have an awesome pet but she won't always sit pretty for a picture. If I squat on the floor she usually comes over to me. I can never get her to stay put.

I was not the photographer for this wedding but that didn't keep me from taking pictures. I purposely sat in the last row so I could get some shots.

Family Fun

I am back! It's not that I have not been shooting--I'll never stop that--I just did not get around to blogging. No particular reason. These were taken when my niece came to visit me one weekend. We had so much fun.

Wedding Video

I finally finished the Dailey / Crouch Wedding and made this video using Animoto. I am still trying to decide if I want to go Pro or keep the plus account I have. I love their program but, I am not sure if I have enough business to justify the cost. As I increase business I do think this is a great, easy way to make videos.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to shoot a wedding this past weekend. It was a beautiful wedding in their back yard. This family needs to rent their yard out as a venue. Absolutely beautiful. Then take a look at this beautiful bride and groom and their family, voila beautiful pictures. Today I seem to be in a black and white mood--so you are getting my black and white shots. This wedding was beautiful, simple and fun.
