Children Eating Candied Apples

What fun, watching little babies eating these bright red candied apples. They didn't eat much, but they sure sucked the sugar off the outside. I especially enjoyed the photos I was able to take during their snack time.

Growing Babies!

I was baby sitting the other day for 6 week old Waylon. After feeding and changing his diaper I thought it might be fun to have a little photo shoot. While this is not the best, it is one of my favorite. He is so cute and growing so quickly. At 6 weeks sometimes they don't do exactly what you want, but Waylon sure tried.  Without all the pillows he probably wouldn't have been so wobbly.

"Trash the Dress"

Such a fun afternoon, shooting 3 models in wedding gowns throughout the city of Atlanta. To me it is not about "trashing" the dress so much as contrasting the beautiful dress with an environment that is so opposite. We ended at Centennial Park where the girls ran through the fountains.

Victorian Day Photos!

I went to "Victorian Days" at the Oakland Park Cemetery in Atlanta the other day and had a wonderful time. There were quite a few people dressed in period costumes. Oakland Park has some great events. I know it sounds weird to have events in a cemetery, but they do this to keep up the grounds in this fabulous historical park. For those who are not familiar with this place it is a great place to go for walks. I first discovered it a few years ago when my daughter moved into the neighborhood. We took her dogs for a walk there. Then I brought my husband for a walking tour. Later we went to their Halloween event. Oakland Park Cemetery has been on my list of places to go and things to do anytime someone comes in from out of town. Who would have thought?

Everyone was happy to pose for pictures.

Even Scarlett O'Hara made an appearance! Lots of photo ops.

Studio Work!

Last night my son came over to play a little in the studio. He thought it might be fun to do some catalog or advertisement style shooting. After a trip to the store to get some stones and black garbage bags we made a little stream, got out the good jewelry and started some test shots. We set this all up on top of the pool table. We lined the pool table with trash bags, then installed the pingpong table on top. After several failed and some good shots we realized we were leaking water onto the table. We decided to move it outdoors. Don't ask me why we didn't start out there. Still have some issues to work on--like the reflections of the soft box in the watch--but not bad for a fun evening.

Another New Baby!

I had an opportunity to take Waylon's picture. He is only4 days old here and he was so cooperative. I love newborn photo shoots. Not only do I get to take their pictures, I get to pick them up and hold them. What more could I want. Okay, so maybe I would like to keep them for a little while. Hold them for hours on end-- but that's all. I could stare at them forever. Watch their little mouths move while they sleep, watch their chest move with ever breath. Babies are so precious and I relish every moment with them.

Baby X is Here

We had another grandson arrive September 3, 2010. Naturally I brought the entire studio with me for our photo shoot. I was really pleased with the pictures. These of Mom and Dad with Baby X were my favorite.

Daddy loves his little boy and had no problems hamming it up for the camera. Look at Baby X look at Daddy.

Maternity Shots!

My daughter's friend is having a baby, so I had no choice but to take some photos. She is sooo ready. I am also ready. I cannot wait to see the new baby boy.  I will have a busy time in September with new borns. I have a grandson due any day. We are counting the minutes. Then I have Bre's baby due any day. I have another baby shoot but this little boy is 3 or 4 months old. Hmm all boys! I am still doing some Senior shots. I like being busy.

Senior Pictures

Today I had a "Senior" photo shoot. What a great time! Angel was an angel to say the least. The heat was just unbearable but Angel smiled and did what she was told.  She was changing outfits in the car or next to the car while her mother or I held something in front of her to block anyone's view. Luckily there were not many people at either location.
Photographing seniors is so much fun. We started in the studio and then went to a park nearby then to a small town nearby. I spent more time than I had planned because I was getting some great photos. I have to stop adding hours to my sessions just because I am having fun. Here is a little sneak peek at what I got.

Portrait of a Fiserman

This isn't just any fisherman--he's my husband. I have so many pictures of him fishing most people probably think it is all he does. I'm sure he wishes. Whenever we go on a little outing we try to mix it up to give each of us a little something. He likes fishing and I like taking pictures. So we take little adventures and throw the fishing rods, bait and tackle next to the camera bad, and off we go. We never know where we are going to go or what we are going to do. Sometimes we never take out the fishing gear and sometime--though less seldom--I never take a picture. I do think this is a great portrait of my husband.

Studio Photography

While riding around with my family when they were here visiting, I discovered a new little shop, Nature's Window. It is right next to the Euharlee Covered Bridge at 114 Covered Bridge Road, Euharlee, GA 30120. It has some fabulous antiques and great prices. This particular set is Princess House Crystal. I broke my pitcher more than 10 years ago and could not find a replacement until now. I originally paid about $50 for the pitcher and bought it at Nature's Window for only $10.00. They are new so they are not set up for credit or debit cards so bring your cash.
If you are in the neighborhood stop in and visit.  For store hours or more information you can call 770-547-7747

Natural Light Child Photography

Photography is my first thought when trying to find something for kids to do. Not that I  don't want them to have fun, but let's face it--I'm a photographer and I will be taking pictures. So, on a recent visit by my niece and nephew, I decided to do something outdoors using natural light. I took my niece to a park near my home to photograph her. While we were there she stopped to take a look at the animals. This little goat got so excited to get attention he stuck his head out to get a little closer.

This is what my niece was waiting for--to pet the horse. She was all smiles as I snapped this photo. It was a beautiful day and I had a wonderful model who was patient and obedient. What more could I want?

While we were there my niece also had the opportunity to pan for gold. While it was not very profitable, she rolled up her sleeves and got into the chore. I do think she had a good time--I know I did.

A Rainy Day

My niece is visiting and we spent some time in the studio taking pictures, just for fun. This was one of our favorites. I hope to have another shoot with her at a location I had picked out before she came. It seems there is never enough time to do all the things you want to do when company comes to visit.

Fun at the Park

I had an opportunity to shoot some pictures of my friend's children. Their mother, Karen is a good friend and fellow photographer. We took them to a local park and made them pose for us for much longer than we should have in such hot humid weather. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dominic, Jimmy, Spencer and Elle. Here is a sampling.

By this time they had had enough!

Time for a new post!

It has been a while since I posted and no excuse. I could say I was busy, but let's face it, I have been on facebook and flickr. I just don't have a lot to say. So here are some pictures I have taken this month.

Caroline Again

Today we put on a pettiskirt from adorabelle. Caroline liked her skirt.

The headband came from Hannah's Tutu's.  I am pleased with both purchases.

Caroline

I have not finished all my projects for Creativity Boot Camp. I have traveled to Delaware to babysit my grandchildren for the weekend. I will finish up my assignments when I get back. I make take some of the babies for some of the themes, but I want to do them in order so some will have to wait. Here is Caroline at 6 months old.

Assignment #9 Drizzle

This is torture! I am on a diet and I had to create this for the assignment. Lucky for me my husband was willing to eat it. I know I couldn't just throw it away.

Assignment #8-- Ornament

This assignment was sooo much fun. I love ornaments. I have so many pictures of my Christmas ornaments and I still take pictures of my favorite ones every year. In todays collection of photos I have one Christmas ornament that never got put away. I don't know how it got left behind, but it did and it kept me from having to dig out any others. This particular one came from an ornament exchange I attended last year.

The next picture is the ornaments on my candelabra. I love things like this.

Then I thought about the ornaments in my garden. I have two garden angels that hang on my fence. My mother made both of them. They are a little worn from weather, but I still like them.

And let's not forget natural ornaments that hang on our trees.

Assignment #7 Fly

As soon as I saw the topic I knew I was taking a trip to the airport. Even my husband knew before I told him. I told him the topic and he said are headed for the airport? I don't know why, I love planes. I used to take my kids for rides by the airport when we lived in Ft. Lauderdale. The kids knew when Mom said, "We're going for a ride" it meant we were headed for the airport. When I move to PA my husband took me to a small airport in Hazleton so I could take pictures of planes. That airport was fun because there was a group called the Hazleton Rip Cords who jumped most every weekend. I could take pictures of planes and jumpers. Now I live outside Atlanta, one of the busiest airports in the world. I love going to Hartsfield.

This first one we spotted a little late and I jumped out of the car to get this-- cut off a wing, but I still like it.

This one I actually took through the windshield

And I caught this coming down and I waited until some of the trees/bushes were at the bottom of the frame. .

Assignment #6 Fluid

Today's assignment seemed easy enough and I really don't like taking the easy way out, but that is just what I did. Not to make excuses, but there is just not enough time in the day. But the best reason is I have a date with my husband and he is waiting on me to finish this so we can go out.

Assignment #5 Grow

Day 5 of the Creativity Boot Camp was a tough one for me. I struggled with this all day. I do think part of my problem is trying to out do myself each day. I don't want to do the obvious or what I think would be the obvious. These are from my hydrangea plant. One just starting and the other larger that has grown.

While working on these photos my daughter called and asked what I was doing. She already knew about the Creativity Boot Camp and my escapades the past 4 days. I told her what I was doing and she immediately blurted out, "Why don't you do a balloon?" Why didn't I think of that.

While this was not exactly my idea, I ran for the balloons--grabbed my husband to help me once more and took a few shots in different stages as he blew it up.

I do not have much experience doing this so I did the best I could.

Assignment #4 Heavy Metal

This one was a tough one for me. At first I couldn't think of anything. My husband has this thing that lifts a motor out of a car, but I couldn't move it to take a good picture. Then I thought of going downtown to wait for a train but a storm was coming in so I opted out of that. I finally thought about taking pictures of my husbands weights and I told him this as we ate dinner. He said he would lift some if I didn't get his face. So this is what I got!

Assignment #3 Multiple Layers

This assignment had my head spinning with ideas. Implementing them was another thing entirely. I hated that I had to work today because it left less time for me to work on this assignment. I must remind myself work is good. It's how I put food on my plate--whether it be hot dogs or crab legs. You can see the difference in our menu when my husband does the cooking. But remember, I had a purpose yesterday.

I also love fabric. What I wanted to do was drop layers of fabric and catch the layers in the air as they fell. I needed some extra hands and did not have them, so I may attempt this another night when my husband can help me.

This set of plastic ware was sitting on my table from yesterday. All stacked neatly in multiple layers. It only made sense to take a picture.
